Register of Deeds

Responsibilities

The Register of Deed’s office is the official repository for all real estate records. Some of the most common are:

  • Deeds
  • Mortgages and Satisfactions
  • Federal Tax Liens
  • Financing Statements
  • Plats and Certified Survey Maps

The Register of Deed’s office files vital statistic records such as birth, death, marriage, and domestic partnership certificates. Veterans discharges are also filed in the Register of Deed’s Office.

Required Identification for Vital Records Purchase

Please allow at least 30 minutes for in-person processing of vital records.
Include a photocopy of a valid photo ID with your mail-in vital record request.

Acceptable forms of identification include:

One of the following:

  • State issued driver’s license or ID card
  • US Government issued photo ID
  • US or Foreign passport
  • Tribal or Military ID card

Or two of the following:

  • Bank/Earnings statement
  • Current, dated, signed lease
  • Health insurance card
  • Utility bill or traffic ticket
  • Vehicle registration/title

Expired cards or documents are not accepted.  All fees are subject to change without notice.

Copies of Recorded Documents

The cost for copies of recorded documents are $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page of the same document. A certified copy of a document is a $1 additional fee.
