The Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program (WDACP) was created by the Wisconsin Legislature in 1983 to provide assistance to the commercial agricultural community. Bayfield County has implemented the program since 1987. The emphasis of the WDACP is on abatement (alleviation) of damage from deer, bears, turkey and geese through techniques such as:
The WDACP responds to dozens of inquiries and damage complaints annually. For those people that meet program eligibility requirements, some choose to enroll and implement abatement measures.
